GDL Media Force responds to critics, highlighting Governor Dauda Lawal’s strategic security investments, drones, APCs, and community guards that improve safety in Zamfara State
GDL Media Force and supporters of the Dauda Lawal-led administration have responded to recent criticisms by the so-called Zamfara Good Governance Forum, which falsely labelled the Governor’s security efforts as a “total failure.”

Since taking office, Governor Dauda Lawal has prioritized tackling insecurity in Zamfara State through transparency, decisive action, and strategic investments.
Unlike previous administrations that negotiated with non-state actors, Lawal has opted for a proactive approach.
Key initiatives include:
- Procurement of heavy security assets: 25 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and an 80-meter endurance surveillance drone capable of 8-hour continuous operations over 50 kilometres.
- Community Protection Guards: Operationalized under the law with 60 new Hilux vehicles and specialised motorcycles.
- Support for mainstream security agencies: Distribution of 150 Hilux vehicles to the Nigeria Police, DSS, NSCDC, and 20 Toyota Buffalo vehicles.
- Zamfara State Security Trust Fund: Provides a predictable framework for funding security operations.
The Defence Minister praised these investments, noting that continued efforts could transform Zamfara into a model of security in the North-West.
The Governor’s prompt response to incidents, including the February 19 attack in Anka LGA, demonstrates his commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
GDL Media Force also highlighted the political bias behind criticisms. The so-called Zamfara Good Governance Forum has historically launched partisan attacks, often aligning with the political interests of former Governor Bello Matawalle.
Despite limited federal support and political isolation, Governor Lawal has sustained security operations while managing inherited debts of N1.2 billion.
The media group emphasized that security improvements are visible to residents, with Zamfara now on a path to lasting peace.
