Don Jazzy made the revelation during a recent appearance on the Crea8torium Podcast, where he recounted how the conversation surrounding Di’Ja’s departure turned deeply emotional and tense.
According to him, the discussion was not just professional but personal, as he views artistes under his label as family members rather than business partners.
He explained that the atmosphere became emotional, with Di’Ja also noticing his discomfort during the meeting.
“One of the most difficult decisions of my career was when I had to let Di’ja go. That was difficult, and I don’t think I will let any artist go again by myself,” he said.
The music executive added that the responsibility of handling such decisions has since been delegated within the label due to how emotionally draining the experience was for him.
He further noted that Di’Ja questioned why he had to be part of the conversation, adding that emotions ran high and several people present were moved to tears.
“All of us started crying. It was hard,” he recalled, describing the moment as one that left a lasting impact on him.
