The installation of a solar-powered mini grid has commenced at Iwopin Fish Market in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, marking a significant step in efforts to expand renewable energy access across communities in Ogun East Senatorial District.

Solar mini grid project in Ogun waterside forms part of a wider initiative covering nine local government areas within the senatorial district, aimed at improving electricity supply for commercial hubs and rural communities.

The development, facilitated by former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel, popularly known as OGD, is expected to provide a more stable and sustainable power source for traders and residents within the bustling fish market area.

Project engineers on site confirmed steady progress on installation works, with key components of the solar infrastructure being positioned to support consistent energy distribution once completed.

The initiative is seen as a major boost for local economic activity, particularly for fish traders who rely heavily on cold storage and processing facilities that require uninterrupted power supply.
