Aston Villa have completed the Garnacho loan move from Chelsea, with Argentina international winger Alejandro Garnacho joining the club on a season-long loan deal on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Aston Villa confirmed the arrival of the 22-year-old forward as manager Unai Emery strengthened his attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

The agreement includes a conditional obligation to buy, with the clause understood to be easily achievable. The overall package, including the loan fee, is reported to match Chelsea’s valuation of the player.

Chelsea had been seeking a fee in the region of £42.6 million (€50 million) for Garnacho, who joined the club from Manchester United last summer in a transfer worth £40 million.

The move brings an end to a period of uncertainty for the winger, who had not returned for Chelsea’s pre-season preparations while seeking a departure from Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho made his name at Manchester United, where he developed into one of the Premier League’s most exciting young attacking players.

His pace, confidence and ability to deliver in wide areas helped him earn international recognition with Argentina.

Manchester United are set to benefit financially from any permanent transfer, with the club retaining a 10 per cent sell-on clause from Garnacho’s previous move to Chelsea.

Reports indicate the clause would bring United around £260,000 if the winger completes a permanent switch to Villa.

Aston Villa view Garnacho as a player capable of adding greater threat and creativity to their frontline as the club continue to compete among England’s leading teams.

The move also gives Garnacho an opportunity to rediscover his best form in a new environment under Emery, who has built a reputation for improving attacking players and maximising squad potential.

Villa supporters will hope the Argentine can bring the energy, flair and attacking impact that made him a standout performer during his rise in English football.
