APC national secretary praises timely deployment of personnel and materials as voters turn out across the state

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission for what he described as a smooth deployment of election materials and personnel ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.

Basiru made the remarks after casting his ballot at Ward 7, Unit 3, in Osogbo Local Government Area, where he observed the early arrival of election officials and materials at polling units across the state.

The Basiru Hails INEC commendation came as voters began turning out in significant numbers to participate in the governorship poll, with the APC national secretary describing the early participation as an encouraging sign of democratic engagement.

“I commend INEC for the timely deployment of election materials and personnel to polling centres across the state,” Basiru said.

He also praised voters for arriving early at polling units and exercising their civic responsibilities.

“I also commend voters for turning out in large numbers to participate in the electoral process.

The turnout is an indication of the people’s commitment to democracy,” he added.

The smooth commencement of voting was a notable development in a closely watched governorship election, with political parties and their supporters monitoring the process across Osun’s 30 local government areas.

Basiru’s comments also underscored the importance of timely logistics in ensuring that voters can cast their ballots without unnecessary delays.

Election-day deployment of personnel and sensitive materials has remained a critical issue in previous Nigerian elections, where logistical challenges have sometimes affected the commencement of voting.

The Osun election is attracting considerable political attention as parties compete for control of the state, while the conduct of polling, voter turnout and the credibility of the process remain central concerns for stakeholders.
