The Lagos State Police Command in Lagos on Thursday, September 24, 2026, sealed a suspected illegal factory allegedly used to produce adulterated alcoholic drinks in Yafin, Badagry, and arrested 48-year-old Anaebo Emeka Hilary at the premises.
The operation followed information received from members of the public, according to the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi.

Police operatives who visited the location reportedly recovered suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, various wine labels and production utensils allegedly used to produce and package the drinks.
The command said Hilary was arrested at the premises and taken into custody while investigators began examining the suspected operation.
“The operation led to the arrest of Anaebo Emeka Hilary, ‘m’, 48 years, at Yafin, Badagry, Lagos State, where the suspected illegal factory was located,” the police said.
The facility was subsequently sealed, while the recovered items were taken to the police station for further investigation.
Police have not disclosed whether any of the suspected products had already reached consumers or identified the specific brands allegedly being replicated.
Investigators are expected to establish how the suspected operation was organised, where the materials were obtained and whether other people were involved.
The discovery has also raised concerns over the potential public health risks associated with alcoholic drinks produced outside regulated manufacturing processes.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the officers involved in the operation and urged residents to continue providing credible information about suspected criminal activities.
The command said information supplied by members of the public remains important in helping security personnel identify and disrupt suspected criminal operations across Lagos.
For now, the facility remains sealed while Hilary remains in police custody as the investigation continues.

The police have not announced formal charges against the suspect, meaning the allegations remain subject to investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.
