The latest figure represents a decline of 0.76 percentage points from the August rate, suggesting that the pace of price increases eased over the period.
However, a lower inflation rate does not necessarily mean that the prices of goods and services have fallen. It generally indicates that prices are rising at a slower rate than before.
The September report provides an update on inflationary trends in Africa’s largest economy, where households and businesses continue to monitor changes in the cost of living.
Further details from the NBS report, including the performance of food inflation and core inflation, are expected to provide a clearer picture of the factors behind the decline.
