Necessity is the mother of invention.

This statement resonated more with the popular comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka GCON, after he made it obvious he wasn’t joking and in one clean swipe commissioned a bakery and bottled water plant in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

D-1st Bread and Bottled Water, as the products are called, were unveiled into the Nigerian market at an exclusive event yesterday, Sunday, August 9, 2020, in the presence of eminent personalities in both the political and entertainment spheres. Among those present were the godfather of the Nigerian comedy, Ali Baba, with his family and the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Hon. Abike Dabiri.

After the keynote address, Hon. Dabiri officially unveiled the bakery, while Hon. Jimi Benson launched the bread.

Prior to the launch, the 52-year-old compere had announced via his Instagram handle that he was diversifying, citing the financial strain he has had to endure during the lockdown months occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic.

In his address, the CEO of Adunni Ade Foods and foremost comedian, Adeyinka, said, “The motivation to diversify was as a result of the novel Coronavirus.”

On why he named his company a woman’s name, Adeyinka said, “Adunni Ade Foods was the business name of my late mum and I decided to immortalise her memory with the name.”

Others at the memorable event were Steve Ayorinde, Olajide Adediran (Jandor), Seun Oloketuyi, Sola Fajobi and Florence Hungbo among others.

D-1st Bread and Bottled Water are products of Adunni Ade Foods Limited.
