Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has applied for an order of [tooltip text=”mandamus” gravity=”nw”]A (writ of) mandamus is an order from a court to an inferior government official ordering the government official to properly fulfill their official duties or correct an abuse of discretion.[/tooltip] against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Recall that Freelanews reported how EFCC, CCB, ICPC were petitioned over re-election of Prince Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State.

The order intends to mandate the agencies to initiate the prosecution of the Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi, along with his company, Superflux Limited over their alleged involvement in printing ballot papers for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the last gubernatorial election.

HURIWA’s affidavit presented substantial evidence indicating that the SSG, in collaboration with Superflux Limited, had unlawfully engaged in ‘abuse of office and fraudulent printing of ‘counterfeit ballot papers’ during the last gubernatorial election in Ogun State.

HURIWA’s legal team, led by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and constitutional lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, argued that the alleged actions by the SSG and Superflux Limited undermine the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic process, which was alleged to have significantly impacted the outcome of the Ogun State gubernatorial election.

See court papers below.
