The suspect, identified as Alhaji Ibrahim, was apprehended at about 3:05 p.m. on 25 May following intelligence reports linking him to alleged communication with members of the extremist groups.
Security sources said the arrest was carried out after surveillance operations indicated possible collaboration between the suspect and terrorist elements operating in the region.
Alhaji Ibrahim, who is reportedly attached as a vigilante at Government Girls Unity College in Damaturu, hails from Ahajiri village in Maisandari Ward of the local government area.
The arrest has raised concerns within the community over alleged internal collaboration with armed groups operating in parts of the North-East.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed details of the incident, warned that insider threats often pose serious risks to communities battling insurgency.
“Sometimes, the greatest threat to a community comes not from outsiders, but from insiders who betray their people by collaborating with terrorists and exposing innocent lives to danger,” Makama wrote.
The suspect is currently being held by troops of Sector 2 for further investigation as authorities continue efforts to dismantle suspected support networks linked to insurgent groups.
