A Nigerian man, Amand Ganga, has demanded for his picture to be pulled down from a story published in a popular newspaper, ThePunch, or face litigation.

Ganga was reacting to a story on the platform titled Angry Borno youths burn Davido’s banner over controversial video, where the newspaper used a picture collage of him, a clip from the disputed video and David Adeleke, aka Davido, to illustrate the story.

The man claimed his picture was used without his consent and demanded that it should be pulled down.

“Dear @MobilePunch, I write to register my displeasure for the use of my picture without my consent in a news story to which I’m not privy. Should my picture exceed 24 hours without you guys taking it down, you’ll hear from my lawyer, as @babanyara_, Esq., has already started processing the lawsuit,” he wrote.

Dear @MobilePunch,

A check by Freelanews revealed that the newspaper had pulled down the story on its social media handle and replaced the photo on its website.

The problem started when the popular Hip-Hop artiste incurred the wrath of the Muslim community in Nigeria over a music video clip titled ‘Jaiye Lo’ released by his signee, Olalekan Taiwo, aka Logos Olori.

Some youths resorted to burning a banner inscribed with the picture of musician in an apparent show of anger against the now-deleted controversial music video he shared because it was seen as an assault on Islam.

In a 19-second video clip posted on Tik Tok by @deeksaiphonestore and reposted by @sarki_sultan on Twitter, the youths were seen setting ablaze the banner as some onlookers observed them engaging in the act.

An inscription on the video hinted that the youths were perpetrating the act in the Maiduguri area of Borno State.

Commenting on the video clip, @sarki_sultan wrote, “Davido should apologise let’s end this. It takes nothing to say I am sorry.”
