Dua Lipa vs Samsung image rights case was lodged on Friday at the US District Court for the Central District of California, where the singer alleges that her likeness was used across multiple television models sold in the US market without authorisation.
According to court documents, the packaging allegedly featured a photograph of the pop star taken during her 2024 performance at the Austin City Limits Festival, which her legal team claims she owns the copyright to.
The filing states that Samsung’s use of the image was intended to capitalise on her global popularity, describing the act as an attempt to boost product appeal and sales through her celebrity status.
Dua Lipa only became aware of the alleged usage in June 2025, after images of the television boxes circulated online and were widely shared by fans on social media, where the packaging quickly went viral.
Her legal representatives further claim that Samsung ignored repeated demands to stop using her image, arguing that attempts to resolve the matter outside court were unsuccessful.
Beyond the legal dispute, Dua Lipa remains one of the most commercially active global artists, having collaborated with major brands including Puma, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent and Apple, alongside her role as a global ambassador for Nespresso.
