EMTS ARCON Dispute Resolution sees telco settle agency debts, praising regulator’s mediation in restoring industry stability

Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited, operator of the T2 brand and formerly known as 9Mobile, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria to commend the regulator for mediating and resolving long-standing commercial disputes with its advertising agencies.

The delegation, led by John Vasikaran, Chief Operating Officer of Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited, formally notified the Council that all outstanding financial obligations to concerned agencies had been fully settled through an instalment payment agreement facilitated by ARCON.

Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited confirmed that the settlement addressed historical debts that had strained relationships within the advertising ecosystem.

The company described the regulator’s intervention as decisive and instrumental in restoring confidence between the telecommunications operator and its service providers.

John Vasikaran said the mediation process created a constructive platform for dialogue, allowing both sides to reach an amicable resolution while preserving critical business relationships.

The company also pledged support for ARCON’s ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening professional standards and aligning Nigeria’s advertising industry with global best practice.

Industry analysts observed that the successful EMTS ARCON dispute resolution contrasts sharply with recent criticism from the Advertisers Association of Nigeria, which had questioned the impact of regulatory oversight on business confidence.

Observers noted that the settlement demonstrates the practical value of structured mediation within the sector.

In recent months, the Council has facilitated similar reconciliations between advertisers and agencies in a bid to reduce industry tensions and improve compliance with contractual obligations.
