Former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose says President Tinubu will not sacrifice Wike for Fubara amid Rivers State political crisis
Former Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, has asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not sacrifice the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, for Rivers State Governor, Mr Siminalayi Fubara, amid the lingering political crisis in Rivers State.

Fayose made the comments during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday in Lagos.
According to Fayose, Wike remains politically more valuable to President Tinubu than Fubara due to his performance as FCT minister and his proven ability to secure electoral victories for the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“But let me say this to Nigerians, the Asiwaju that I know will not get rid of a Wike for a Fubara. Wike came from Rivers to give support to President Tinubu,” Fayose said.
He added that Wike’s continued support helped the APC win local government elections in Abuja and Rivers State.
The former governor criticised Fubara’s decision to seek presidential intervention over the dispute, describing it as political arrogance.
“If Governor Fubara has gone to meet the President, then it shows he needs help. When you refuse to humble yourself and look for peace, you’ll just be running helter-skelter,” Fayose stated.
Fayose also addressed claims that President Tinubu was responsible for the internal crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party.
He dismissed the allegations, saying the PDP’s challenges are self-inflicted and rooted in internal divisions and political rivalry.
The Rivers State Assembly recently commenced proceedings to impeach Governor Fubara, citing gross misconduct, extra-budgetary spending, and defiance of a Supreme Court ruling on legislative autonomy.
The political feud between Fubara and Wike has contributed to instability in the state since late 2023.

“The PDP caused themselves an insurrection. It’s a house that is divided against itself, and the nature of man is survival of the fittest,” Fayose said, underscoring the party’s internal fractures.
