The Ijesa misconduct appeal was conveyed in a letter addressed to Yinka Fasuyi, who also holds the traditional title of Asiwaju of Ijesaland and Baba Oba of Ido-Oko Ijesa.
The writer expressed deep remorse and accepted responsibility for failing to promptly report a financial transfer connected to the project.
According to the letter, the transfer was made by Opeyemi Adebowale without prior discussion or agreement, a claim the writer said underscores the absence of deliberate wrongdoing. The author maintained that no request or negotiation influenced the payment.
The appeal acknowledged the seriousness of the oversight and the expectations tied to public responsibility, while insisting that the incident did not stem from corrupt intent.
The writer described the situation as a painful lesson in accountability and vigilance.
In a particularly poignant passage, the author highlighted the potential consequences of removal from office, warning that such a decision could have far-reaching effects on reputation, leadership prospects and ongoing service to the community.
Yinka Fasuyi, widely regarded as a key figure in Ijesaland’s development structure, has yet to issue a public response.
However, the tone of the appeal reflects a broader emphasis on mentorship and ethical standards within the community’s leadership framework.
The Ijesa misconduct appeal also underscores the human dimension of governance at the grassroots level, where personal relationships and institutional expectations often intersect.
