The electoral commission has uploaded 3,482 of 3,763 polling unit results after a brief disruption sparked concerns online

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed its Osun results upload on the IReV portal, with 3,482 of the 3,763 polling unit results across the state available as the collation process continues.

The figure represents 92.53 per cent of the results expected on the portal after voters went to the polls across Osun State’s 30 local government areas on Saturday to elect a governor for the next four years.

The development follows an earlier interruption in the publication of results on IReV, which prompted questions from voters, observers and social media users.

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, was among those who publicly questioned the delay. In a post on X, he wrote: “INEC IREV uploads have been stuck for almost 2 hours now. 3292 out of 3763 results submitted and then silence.”

He added: “This is not acceptable. Why has the uploading stopped?”

Another X user, @mundus01, also expressed concern, saying the portal had remained accessible but that no new results were appearing.

The subsequent resumption has now pushed the number of uploaded results to 3,482, leaving 281 polling unit results yet to appear on the platform.

The IReV portal is designed to allow members of the public to view polling unit result sheets uploaded by INEC officials, providing an additional layer of transparency to the electoral process.

The Osun governorship election has attracted considerable attention, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party seeking another term against All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji, African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam and candidates from other parties.

Earlier in the day, several polling units concluded voting, sorting and counting, with presiding officers announcing results at the respective locations.

At Unit 39, Ward 4, in Osogbo Local Government Area, for instance, the Presiding Officer, Oyeranmi Deborah, declared Accord Party with 65 votes ahead of the APC, which secured 43 votes. ADC recorded two votes, while AA, AAC and ZLP each secured one vote.

The figures declared at individual polling units will form part of the wider collation process, with results expected to be collated progressively before the final declaration.

The brief interruption in the digital upload process nevertheless underlined the heightened public sensitivity surrounding the election, particularly as political parties and supporters monitor the emerging figures.

With more than 92 per cent of polling unit results now visible, attention is shifting towards the outstanding uploads and the official collation that will determine the winner of the closely watched Osun governorship contest.
