Kaduna Police arrest six suspected kidnappers, raid hideout

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and raided a suspected criminal hideout in Ikara Local Government Area following information from an escaped kidnap victim, police spokesperson Mansir Hassan said on Friday, August 14, 2026.

The operation was launched after the victim reported his abduction to the police on Tuesday and identified a house in Dogon Pako Village, Ikara, as the location where he had allegedly been held.

Hassan said the information was supported by intelligence provided by members of the public, allowing officers from the Ikara Police Division to move against the suspected hideout.

“Upon receiving the complaint, the Ikara Police Division promptly mobilised officers, in collaboration with members of the local vigilante service, to raid the location,” Hassan said.

The operation resulted in the arrest of six suspects aged between 20 and 65, according to the police.

The house was identified as belonging to Ja’e Samalu, 65, of Dogon Pako Village. Police did not immediately disclose the identities or specific alleged roles of the six suspects.

The suspects remain in police custody while investigators work to establish their individual involvement and determine whether they are connected to a wider criminal network.

“Efforts are also ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network,” Hassan said.

The development underscores the importance of information from victims and local communities in disrupting kidnapping networks, particularly where criminals are suspected of using residential properties to conceal victims.

Muhammad Rabiu, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, commended the officers involved in the operation as well as residents who provided information that helped police respond to the report.

Rabiu urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious people, movements and activities to the nearest police station.

He also warned communities to pay closer attention to the use of residential buildings, particularly where unusual activity could indicate that a property is being used as a criminal hideout or holding facility.

The commissioner said prompt information-sharing between residents and security agencies remains critical to preventing kidnappings and dismantling criminal networks operating across the state.

For the police, the investigation will now focus on establishing how the suspects allegedly operated, identifying other members of the network and determining whether additional victims may have been held at the location.

The six suspects will remain in custody as those inquiries continue.
