Officials said the action followed persistent indiscriminate refuse disposal on the highway median and illegal street trading around the market corridor.
Enforcement teams moved in during the morning operation to shut the market after what authorities described as sustained non compliance with environmental sanitation regulations.
The government said the measures were necessary to restore order, improve public hygiene and safeguard motorists and pedestrians using the busy expressway.
Authorities warned that markets and traders who ignore environmental standards would face similar sanctions as part of a renewed enforcement drive across the state.
