A man was arrested in Niger State after shouting “no water, no light” during Governor Bago’s visit to Suleja
A 38-year-old man, Hamisu Abdullahi, has been arrested in Niger State after allegedly shouting “no water, no light” during a public event attended by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
The incident occurred during the governor’s visit to the Emir of Suleja following Eid-el-Fitr prayers.

According to the Niger State Police Command, the man was arrested for allegedly attempting to disrupt official proceedings during the visit.
Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed that the suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for investigation.
He was later granted bail while investigations into the incident continue.
The arrest reportedly followed the man’s public outburst at the emir’s palace, where he shouted the phrase “no water, no light,” drawing attention from attendees.
The suspect, identified as an electrician and father of four, resides in Suleja, Niger State.
His family confirmed that he was released on bail after spending several days in detention.
There have been claims that the arrest may have been ordered by authorities, although this has not been independently verified.
Government officials have not publicly commented on the allegations surrounding the arrest.
