A notorious drug dealer, Shahen Ahmed, has been sentenced to nine and a half years in prison after being convicted of supplying Class A drugs.
The 34-year-old resident of Stevedore Street, Tower Hamlets, was targeted by the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Yamata, which aims to dismantle drug supply networks across east London.
From December 2021 to June 2022, investigators identified three sophisticated drug lines operating under the “Killah” banner.
On June 28, 2022, police executed warrants at Ahmed’s home and another linked location, where they discovered large quantities of crack cocaine and heroin, over £60,000 in cash, and digital devices containing incriminating evidence.
Among the evidence found was a video on Ahmed’s phone, in which he boasted about his criminal lifestyle and referred to himself as “Pablo,” likening himself to the infamous cartel leader Pablo Escobar.
Detective Inspector Sam Bennett remarked, “Drugs are inextricably linked to violence and misery on our streets. They blight communities and ruin lives. Ahmed’s arrogance motivates us to bring such individuals to justice.”
Additionally, detectives from the Met’s Economic Crime Unit are working to retrieve over £600,000 laundered through Ahmed’s business accounts under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Ahmed’s sentencing represents a significant victory for Operation Yamata and the ongoing efforts to disrupt drug supply networks in east London.
