Nigerian-born man Obinwa Obichukwu has been jailed for two years in the United Kingdom after being convicted of sexually assaulting a woman at Euston station, London, in 2023.

Obichukwu, 45, was sentenced by the Inner London Crown Court after being found guilty of two counts of sexual assault following an incident involving a woman travelling alone.

The court heard that Obichukwu approached the victim at Euston station on the evening of August 20, 2023, and attempted to engage her in conversation about the music she was listening to.

According to British Transport Police, he later grabbed her hand, declared his feelings towards her, placed an arm around her shoulder and invited her to his home before following her along Euston Road towards the Tube station.

Police said the assault occurred at the station entrance and again near the ticket barriers before the woman managed to push him away and escape.

Obichukwu was later identified and arrested by British Transport Police officers who traced him to his residence.

Announcing the sentence, British Transport Police described him as a “sexual predator” who deliberately targeted a woman who was travelling alone.

“We’ve put another sexual predator in prison. Obinwa Obichukwu targeted a lone woman and attacked her at Euston station,” the police said.

The conviction followed a January court ruling, with sentencing delivered on July 21, 2026.

In addition to the prison term, Obichukwu received a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was placed on the sex offenders register for the same period.

The case forms part of wider efforts by UK authorities to tackle sexual offences on public transport networks and ensure that offenders are held accountable for attacks against passengers.
