An unidentified northern Islamic cleric has sparked widespread outrage after a video emerged online in which he allegedly offered a ₦1 million bounty for the killing of a Christian cleric, triggering fears of rising sectarian tension.

The footage, which has circulated widely on social media, shows the cleric speaking in a mosque environment while making inflammatory remarks and calling on members of the public to carry out the act in exchange for money.
In the same video, he is seen displaying cash while insisting the reward could be increased, further intensifying public concern over the seriousness of the threat.
A distressed female voice, also featured in the recording, condemned the message and questioned the response of security agencies, including the Department of State Services, urging immediate intervention to prevent escalation.
