Rotary District 9112 donates rain coats and boots to the Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board to support health workers in the End Polio Now campaign

Rotary District 9112 has donated rain coats and boots to the Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board in a renewed effort to strengthen the global End Polio Now campaign and protect frontline health workers.

The donation event took place at the office of the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board (LSPHCB), Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.

The humanitarian gesture featured the presentation of 100 rain boots and 200 rain coats to support vaccination teams operating across difficult terrains in Lagos.

Dr Ibrahim Mustafa, Permanent Secretary of the LSPHCB, expressed deep appreciation for Rotary’s continued collaboration with the Lagos State Government.

“This support aligns perfectly with what the government is doing to ensure the total eradication of polio,” he said.

“Rotary International has always stood out in the fight against this disease, and these items will greatly assist our teams during the rainy season when movement becomes more challenging.”

Representing the chairman of the Nigeria National Polio Plus Committee, Past District Governor (PDG) Joshua Hassan, PDG Yomi Adewunmi of the Rotary Club of Gbagada emphasised the group’s determination to tackle the spread of mutant poliovirus in Lagos.

“On behalf of my chairman, we are honoured to make this donation worth about N1.6 million,” Adewunmi said.

“We are grateful to the Lagos State Government for their consistent cooperation and support in ensuring the success of polio eradication efforts.”

District Governor of Rotary International District 9112, Rtn Lanre Adedoyin, reaffirmed Rotary’s unwavering dedication to eradicating polio across Nigeria and the world.

“Our commitment to ending polio is absolute,” he declared.

“We will continue working with the Lagos State Government and our partners until polio is completely wiped off the face of the earth. Today’s donation strengthens our shared vision of a polio-free nation and a polio-free world.”
