In a post shared via his alternative social media handle, “verydarkblackman”, VDM said he would not pursue the matter aggressively to avoid accusations that he was targeting an Igbo businessman.
He also referenced individuals who claimed to have been affected by issues connected to the travel agency.
The comments were made amid ongoing public discussions surrounding allegations involving Dr. Ifeanyi Onukwubiri, Chief Executive Officer of TMT Travels and Tour.
Complaints relating to visa processing and financial transactions connected to the company have previously attracted public attention. The allegations remain subject to investigation and legal processes.
VDM’s remarks quickly generated reactions across social media platforms, with many users debating whether ethnicity should play any role in discussions about accountability and consumer complaints.
Some supporters argued that the commentator was highlighting a recurring challenge in public discourse, where criticism of individuals can sometimes be interpreted through ethnic or regional identities.
Others questioned the decision to introduce ethnicity into a matter that many believe should be addressed strictly on the basis of evidence and due process.
The development has further intensified conversations about the intersection of social media activism, public accountability and ethnic sensitivities in Nigeria’s digital space.
