King Mitchy public apology after live video substance backlash; she expresses regret to Nigerians, Seyi Tinubu, Ooni of Ife, and activist VeryDarkMan

Popular social media personality King Mitchy has issued a public apology to Nigerians following criticism over a recent live video in which she admitted to taking a substance while on air.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, King Mitchy reflected on her actions, acknowledging that her behaviour was wrong, particularly given her influence over young girls who look up to her.

“I’m ready to be held accountable for my actions. For some days I’ve thought about my behaviour and I know that I was wrong,” she wrote, addressing her audience.

King Mitchy admitted that consuming the substance during the live video was inappropriate and expressed regret for disappointing her followers.

“I want to be held accountable for the substance I took on live video. That was very wrong of me because there are young girls that are looking up to me one day, and I know I disappointed a lot of people,” she said.

The influencer also tendered a public apology to Seyi Tinubu, whom she referred to as her boss, emphasising that a private apology was insufficient given the public nature of the incident.

“My boss, ST Seyi Tinubu, I’m so sorry. I know I apologised privately but I did not disrespect you privately, I disrespected you publicly, so I want to apologise publicly. I’m so sorry sir,” King Mitchy stated.

She further apologised to the Ooni of Ife for mentioning his name during the controversy.

“To the Ooni of Ife, I’m so sorry for bringing your name into this, daddy,” she added.

King Mitchy also addressed activist VeryDarkMan, recognising his advocacy work and expressing regret for previously confronting him.

“To VeryDarkMan, my brother, I see what you’re fighting for, you’re fighting for Nigeria and we can make Nigeria a better place. I’m sorry for coming at you like that. Maybe now I understand you better,” she said.

She concluded by acknowledging the importance of supporting activists rather than criticising them.

“You need more supporters, not people to fight you. I’m sorry, my brother. Thank you,” King Mitchy added, emphasising her desire to make amends publicly.
