IG orders redeployment of AIGs, CPs nationwide

IGP Disu police postings reshuffle senior officers across commands to strengthen operations and improve service delivery nationwide

Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has ordered a sweeping redeployment of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen operational efficiency and enhance service delivery nationwide.

The directive, announced in a statement by Force Public Relations Officer Anthony Placid, outlined new postings for Assistant Inspectors General and Commissioners of Police across key departments, commands and formations.

Under the restructuring, several AIGs were assigned to strategic units at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, including Research and Planning, Operations, Training and Development, and Community Policing.

Others were deployed to zonal commands in Maiduguri, Makurdi, Katsina and Lagos.

The IGP Disu police postings also affected multiple state commands, with new Commissioners of Police appointed to Jigawa, Oyo, Delta, Ogun, Ekiti, Adamawa, Lagos, Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and the Federal Capital Territory.

Further redeployments covered specialised units such as INTERPOL, the Special Protection Unit, SWAT, the Police Academy and the Force Criminal Investigation Department across Abuja, Lagos and Kaduna.

The extensive reshuffle is seen as a decisive move to reinforce command structure and ensure effective policing across the country.

Analysts say such deployments often aim to inject fresh leadership into critical areas while addressing emerging security challenges.

Olatunji Disu urged the affected officers to apply their experience and maintain high standards of professionalism, discipline and service in their new roles.

The IGP Disu police postings form part of broader efforts by the police leadership to improve responsiveness and strengthen public confidence in law enforcement operations.
