Lagos Church Property Arraignment as man is charged in Ikeja High Court over alleged takeover and damage of Harvesters Church property

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday arraigned Olusola Shedrach before the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over allegations of forcefully taking over and damaging property belonging to Harvesters Church along the Gbagada–Oworonshoki Expressway.

Olusola Shedrach was brought before Justice Hakeem Oshodi on a three-count charge bordering on forceful takeover, malicious damage, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

During proceedings, state prosecutor Olufunmilayo Aluko informed the court that the prosecution was ready to proceed and requested that the charges be read to the defendant for his plea.

“My Lord, we are ready for the arraignment of the defendant and pray that the charges be read to him so that he can take his plea,” Aluko told the court.

Lagos Church Property Arraignment moved forward after the court granted the request and the charges were formally read in open court.

According to the prosecution, Olusola Shedrach allegedly took control of the church property without authorisation and damaged items within the premises, actions said to have disrupted public order.

The prosecution further stated that the alleged offences contravene Section 2(1) of the Lagos State Properties Protection Law 2016, as well as Sections 350 and 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him.

Following the plea, defence counsel O. Odueso requested an adjournment to allow time to file and argue a bail application, a request which was not opposed by the prosecution.

Justice Hakeem Oshodi subsequently adjourned the case to April 22, 2026, for hearing of the bail application, while June 17, 2026, was fixed for the commencement of trial.
