The online drama began after Davido criticised former Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola in a post on X, describing him as “the most desperate and embarrassing politician in the world.”
In response, an Instagram user identified as Emmanuel Oveze Benjamin accused the singer of selective activism, alleging that he only speaks out on national issues when his uncle, Governor Adeleke, is involved.
The critic also questioned the performance of the Osun State government, claiming that there was little evidence of major projects, while arguing that Davido’s political engagement appeared inconsistent.
Davido later responded directly in the comment section, defending his family and the administration in Osun State.
“If e reach your turn no support your family… Besides we are doing a great job in OSUN,” he wrote.
The exchange quickly escalated, with the critic releasing follow-up videos accusing the singer of political immaturity and challenging him to provide evidence of development projects in the state.
He also drew comparisons between Davido and Seyi Tinubu, suggesting both represent elite political families, a claim that has further fuelled online debate.
Davido responded again, urging the critic to visit Osun State and see developments firsthand.
“Off your camera and visit OSUN… Thank you,” he wrote.
