The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is accused of allegedly operating a fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Justice Mohammed Garba Umar terminated the proceedings on Monday, October 12, 2026, following an application by the prosecution seeking to withdraw the charge and transfer the case for a fresh arraignment before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.

At the hearing, the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, told the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, had reviewed the case file and the charge initially filed by the Inspector-General of Police.
Oyedepo said the review revealed legal gaps in the case, including questions concerning the appropriate court to handle allegations involving documents allegedly forged by Adeyemi.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offences were matters that could be prosecuted before the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.
The Director of Public Prosecution informed Justice Umar that a fresh charge had already been filed before the FCT High Court and that the government intended to arraign Adeyemi there without delay.
He consequently asked the court to strike out the existing charge in accordance with the law.
Counsel to Adeyemi, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, did not oppose the application. The judge subsequently granted the request and terminated the proceedings before the Federal High Court.
Adeyemi, 38, had been charged alongside two other individuals whose whereabouts were reportedly unknown.
They were identified in the charge as Femi, whose surname was not provided, and Anu, also without a stated surname.
The defendants faced allegations bordering on conspiracy and forgery linked to the alleged operation of the PFIPC. The charge was registered as FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025.
The latest court decision brings the Federal High Court proceedings to an end, but the prosecution’s application indicates that the case is expected to continue before the FCT High Court through a fresh arraignment.

Adeyemi’s allegations remain subject to judicial determination, and the striking out of the charge at the Federal High Court does not, on the information provided, amount to a finding of guilt or an acquittal on the underlying allegations.
