‘A week long event’ Time-table for AVSE Oluwole Adetiran burial released (Photos)

The activities for the burial event of the music director of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, AVSE Oluwole Oladejo Adetiran (M.O.N.), has been released.

This was made known at a press conference organised by the committee set up by the pastor and spiritual head of the CCC Worldwide, Rev. EMF Oshoffa, to handle the burial event of the late respected public figure, who was also the composer of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) anthem still in use till date.

Born on September 8, 1947, in the Western Region of Nigerian to the Adetiran family of Obaloja Compound, Igbajo, now Osun State. He started his elementary education at the Baptist Day School, Igbajo, before moving to Ibadan, Oyo State.

Adetiran learnt the art of playing the guitar from Dapo Taiwo, a Gold Coast returnee, and became a preferred guitarist amongst his mates in 1963 and by 1965, he had become a cathedral organist.

His musical talent made him to excel at the Baptist Teacher Training College where he was appointed as the Social Prefect and Choir Director.

The late CCC Worldwide music director trained as a musicologist at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the University of Ibadan, while he had his mandatory N.Y.S.C. Scheme at the Polytechnic Ibadan. It was during the service he composed the N.Y.S.C. anthem.

He later lectured at the Department of Music Technology, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, for about thirty years and rose from an assistant lecturer to Chief Lecturer, a professor cadre in a university setting.

He was also became the first lecturer in the Music Technology Department to become a Senior Principal Lecturer in the music department of the Polytechnic Ibadan, the first lecturer in the department to become a Dean of Faculty of eight departments at The Polytechnic Ibadan.

The late AVSE Adetiran joined the Celestial Church of Christ at the Army Barracks Road Parish, Mokola, Ibadan, under the Shepherdship of Late MSE Moses Obasa Adekanbi in the early 1970’s.

According to the Head of Media, CCC Worldwide, Sup. Evang. Kayode Ajala, MBIC, the conference was the first time such would be happening in the celestial church and that the late AVSE Adetiran was not an ordinary member of the celestial church.

“The late director of music was an exceptional member of CCC; a man who contributed immensely to the growth and the progress of this church. He has left an indelible print in the sand of time.

“While he was alive, he recorded so many firsts within the CCC and Nigeria as a whole,” Sup. Evang. Ajala said.

The chairman of his burial committee, Sup. Evang. Olusegun Okeowo, stated that the proper planning of the event would commence  on August 20, 2022.

“The family of Baba Adetiran would be organising a symposium coming up Saturday, August 20, at CCC Central Parish, No. 14, Olukunbi Odunbaku Street, Oremeji Busstop, Ibafo, in Ogun. It was where baba was attending during his time and it would commence by 2:00pm.

“The central choir of CCC Worldwide would be organising a roadshow to create an awareness on Sunday, August 21, by 12noon.

“On Monday, the church he started from, CCC Mokola Parish, Ibadan in Oyo State, would be organising Service of Songs for him and on Tuesday, The Ibadan Polytechnic would be hosting a Commendation Service for Baba Adetiran starting from 12noon to 2:00pm.

“On Wednesday, August 21, there is going to be an interdenominational gospel concert at the Blueroof of the LTV8 in Lagos starting from 10am to 10pm in the evening. This is going to huge because baba was a music person and so we’re going to have a lot of artistes coming to celebrate him,” he revealed.

On Thursday, the event would move to the Celestial City at Imeko in Ogun State where late Adetiran said he should be buried when he died. Mid-week service would be held there from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

“August 26 is the proper burial. There would a service for him in the morning at his house by 9:00am and immediately after the service, he would be laid to rest. We would all be back to Lagos on same Friday.

“On Saturday, the following day, there would be a session for baba, his family and all well-wishers at the Balmoral Hall Event Centre in Lagos starting from 12noon where so many popular artiste would perform.

“There would be a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday at the CCC, International Headquarters, Ketu from 10:00am where we would be appreciating God for the success of the burial event,”

“These are the programmes for the final burial of Baba Adetiran, which we believe everyone of the gentlemen of the press present here today would help tell the whole world that the committee,” Sup. Evang. Okeowo said.

The chairman thereafter appreciated the pressmen for coming while recognising the first son of late man of God, Olumide Adetiran, who was also present at the event.

A recipient of the national award, M.O.N, Adetiran was the music director of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide and the founding rector of the C.C.C. Academy of Music Technology, Lagos, Nigeria, until his demise.

He died on May 7, 2022 and is survived by a wife, children and grandchildren.
