Abuja Couple Kidnap Attempt Foiled as FCT Police rescue Mr Samson and his wife after 30-minute gun battle and recover AK-47 in Byazhin
Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have foiled a kidnapping attempt on a couple in the Byazhin area of Abuja and recovered an AK-47 rifle following a 30-minute gun battle with suspected kidnappers.

The operation took place in the early hours of Thursday after credible intelligence indicated the presence of armed suspects around the Redeemed Church axis in Byazhin, near Paze Hills.
According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit were swiftly deployed to the scene under the leadership of the unit’s Officer Commanding.
On arrival, the operatives discovered that the armed suspects were attempting to forcefully gain entry into a residential building with the intent of abducting the occupants.
A fierce exchange of gunfire broke out after the suspects opened fire on sighting the police team, leading to a prolonged confrontation that lasted over 30 minutes.
The police successfully repelled the attackers, forcing them to flee into nearby bushes with suspected gunshot wounds.
Following the operation, officers recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine and seven rounds of live ammunition from the scene.
The rescued victims, identified as Mr Samson and his wife, were evacuated to safety immediately after the operation.
They were later taken to the General Hospital, Gwarinpa, where they received medical attention for trauma-related distress before being placed under protective custody.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, commended the operatives for their bravery, professionalism and swift response in preventing the kidnapping attempt.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against criminal elements across the Federal Capital Territory.

Authorities also announced intensified surveillance and patrols in the area while urging residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely intelligence to security agencies.
