Ibiyeomie kidnapping allegation sparks debate as Pastor David Ibiyeomie claims politicians may be behind school abductions in Nigeria

Founder of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has alleged that some politicians may be behind the recent wave of schoolchildren kidnappings across Nigeria, making the claim amid growing public concern over insecurity.

The cleric made the remarks while reacting to the spate of abductions reported in states including Sokoto and Oyo, where schoolchildren and teachers have been targeted in recent weeks.

Ibiyeomie suggested that the pattern of attacks points to organised sponsorship, insisting that the incidents could not be carried out without backing from influential actors.

“They are not just picking these children without sponsors. Politicians must be behind it, they can’t pick children and show their pictures,” he said.

The pastor also questioned the effectiveness of Nigeria’s intelligence and security response, expressing surprise that perpetrators had not been apprehended despite advances in surveillance capabilities.

He specifically referenced the Department of State Services, Department of State Services, asking why suspected kidnappers had not been tracked and arrested.

“Do you know that even the DSS can track people and know where they are, so how come they are not tracking these kidnappers?” he said.

He further argued that the persistence of the attacks suggested the involvement of what he described as “an invisible hand” within the system.

The comments come as public anxiety continues to rise over school safety in parts of the country, with families and communities demanding stronger protection for vulnerable children.

The kidnapping allegation has since generated debate on social media, with mixed reactions from citizens, religious leaders, and security analysts.

Authorities have not issued a formal response to the pastor’s claims at the time of filing this report.
