The suspects were identified by police as Nurudeen Ganiu, 34, Oluwaleke Fagbula, 38, Emmanuel Silas, 41, and Nurudeen Abdullahi, 41.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, the arrests followed credible intelligence indicating that suspected cult members were conducting an initiation ceremony around midnight within the Egbeda area.
Acting on the information, police operatives launched a covert operation that led to the successful apprehension of the four suspects.
During the operation, officers recovered a locally made cut-to-size pistol, an English Beretta pistol loaded with 10 live rounds of ammunition and a jack knife.
Police said preliminary investigations linked the suspects to cult-related activities and violent crimes within Egbeda and neighbouring communities.
A significant development in the investigation was the discovery that one of the suspects is allegedly a notorious cult gang leader and a former student of a university in Ogun State who was reportedly expelled in 2022 over cult-related activities.
Investigators further alleged that the group had been involved in thuggery and had terrorised residents in Egbeda and surrounding areas for an extended period.
According to the police, the suspects confessed during interrogation to being active members of the Eiye Confraternity, a secret cult group known for violent clashes and criminal activities.

The command alleged that the group typically used motorcycles to carry out attacks on unsuspecting victims and disrupt social gatherings at gunpoint.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, commended the operatives involved in the operation, describing the arrests as another important breakthrough in the fight against cultism and violent crime.
The police chief praised the professionalism and swift response of the officers, noting that their actions helped prevent further criminal activities within the area.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling cultism and other forms of violent crime across Lagos State.
Residents were also encouraged to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing crime prevention efforts.
