Oloja of Lagos emerges as King Kosoko Royal Family declares Prince Abdulrafiu Babajide Akanni Kosoko Oloja-elect in Lagos
History was made on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, as the King Kosoko Royal Family formally declared Prince Abdulrafiu Babajide Akanni Kosoko as the Oloja of Lagos-elect, marking a powerful milestone in the enduring royal heritage of Lagos.

The historic declaration took place at the King Kosoko Palace in Ereko, Lagos Island, where hundreds of royal family members converged to witness the culturally significant event.

Prince Kosoko was officially announced and presented to the gathering by the Olori Ebi General of the King Kosoko Royal Family, Alhaja Mutiat Ashabi Ali-Balogun, who raised his hands in affirmation in line with long established custom.
She was supported by the Deputy Olori Ebi General, Alhaja Oyindamola Ayepola, who also serves as the Head of the Meshimo Ruling House.
With the declaration, Prince Kosoko assumes the status of Oloja of Lagos-elect, pending his traditional installation and capping by the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Osuolale Okikiola Aremu Akiolu, in accordance with palace protocols and Lagos tradition.
