Onuachu Super Eagles World Cup Quality Claim comes as Éric Chelle’s side prepares for their fixture against Poland in Warsaw later tonight, with another major test against Portugal scheduled for next week.
Nigeria head into the matches on the back of a strong run of performances, including their successful defence of the Unity Cup title last weekend, a result that has boosted confidence within the squad and highlighted their growing cohesion under Chelle’s leadership.
Onuachu said the team believes it has the technical ability and depth to challenge elite opposition, even as he acknowledged the disappointment of missing out on World Cup qualification.
“We have the quality to play against any team in the world and hopefully we are going to show it against Poland and Portugal,” Onuachu said in comments shared via the Super Eagles media platform.
“Sadly we are not going to the World Cup because we have world-class players, but that’s football.”
The striker’s remarks reflect a broader sense of optimism within the camp as Nigeria continue to rebuild momentum through international friendlies and competitive squad rotation.
Team officials say the upcoming matches are part of a wider plan to test tactical systems and evaluate player combinations ahead of future competitions.
