One of Nigeria’s leading breweries, Guinness Nigeria, has announced increments in the prices of its products.
The company claimed the move became necessary in order to align with the federal government’s directive on excise duty payment on nonalcoholic drinks of N10/litre.
According to a letter signed on behalf of the company by its commercial director, Adebayo Alli, and seen by Freelanews, the company revealed that such new prices announcement only affected some selected products like include Malta Guinness, Dubic Malt and Orijin Zero.
“Following our need to comply with the Federal Government’s directive on excise duty payment on non-alcholic drinks of N10/Litre effective from January 01, 2022, this is to inform you that we plan to take a price increase on selected SKUs in our APNADS category,” Alli wrote.
The directive stated that the price increase will take effective from January 18, 2022 while introducing new modalities on payment which included receipt of cash payments only for purchase.
