Rotimi Amaechi 2027 ambition confirmed as he declares intent to run for president on the ADC platform, vowing to challenge Tinubu directly
Rotimi Amaechi 2027 presidential ambition has been officially reaffirmed as the former Rivers State Governor declared his intent to run for Nigeria’s highest office under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Amaechi made the announcement on Wednesday during a press briefing in Kano State, following a closed-door meeting with a coalition of northern traders.
“I will contest the ADC presidential primary, and by God’s grace, I hope to win so that I can face Tinubu in 2027.
I am not stepping down for anyone. Let the people decide who they want to lead,” he asserted.
This bold declaration signals a strong political comeback from Amaechi, who also served as Minister of Transportation under President Muhammadu Buhari.
His statement comes amid growing dissatisfaction with the Bola Tinubu administration, which he accused of failing to alleviate widespread hardship.
According to Amaechi, Rotimi Amaechi 2027 offers Nigerians a credible alternative. “People are suffering everywhere.
Whether the government wants to conduct credible elections or not, one thing is certain—time is up,” he said.
He emphasized the need for internal democracy within the ADC and dismissed zoning concerns, maintaining that he would remain in the race regardless of party decisions.
Amaechi also criticized the current government’s appointment structure, stating it lacks inclusiveness.
“Only a few close to the president have benefitted. Many others across the country feel left out,” he noted.
Responding to suggestions that his political base in Rivers State had weakened due to the influence of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Amaechi was defiant.
“When I visited Rivers to inaugurate the ADC, the turnout was massive and unpaid. That speaks volumes,” he said.
He concluded by positioning himself as one of the most qualified candidates, citing his cross-regional appeal and governance record.
