Anthony Joshua sends Dubois warning amid fight talks

Anthony Joshua sends Dubois warning amid fight talks

Former heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has sent a chilling warning to potential next opponent, Daniel Dubois, as both fighters are in talks for a Wembley showdown, Freelanews reports.

Dubois won the interim IBF heavyweight title last weekend with a stunning eighth-round TKO victory over the previously undefeated Filip Hrgovic in Saudi Arabia.

Freelanews reports that Joshua and Dubois are now in talks over a huge domestic dust-up at Wembley on either September 20 or 21.

Joshua, 34, was ringside for the biggest victory of Dubois’ career but has warned him he’ll suffer another setback in his world title hopes when they throw down.

Taking to Instagram to share a photo of himself watching the fight, Joshua wrote, “The hardest part about my job is realising you have to ruin someone else’s dream to achieve yours.”

Dubois, 26, suffered heartache in his first crack at heavyweight gold against undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk last August and he’s vowed to demolish Joshua on his way to a second crack at a world title.

He said, “That’s what I’ve been hearing (that Joshua could be next), so let’s see. (Being world champion) is a dream.

“From challenging for the world title to getting the chance to win the damn thing outright, that’s what I want. I’ll demolish Joshua. I’ll get even better from here.”

Joshua has rediscovered himself with four wins on the bounce, the most recent being his brutal second-round KO of former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

However, he’s refusing to overlook Dubois, who bounced back from his TKO loss to Usyk with successive stoppages of Jarrell Miller and Hrgovic.

The former two-time unified heavyweight champion said, “I’ve got to pick them off one by one.

“It’s not going to be easy, but that’s my mentality. So come one, come all… He (Dubois) has been in tougher fights, so he becomes hardened.

“He has worked his way up the ladder, we’ll see what happens in the near future. Wembley, O2, York Hall – wherever they put me, I’m happy to fight. Any venue, I’ll turn up and do my job.”
