A group urges the PDP to expel Ayo Fayose for his divisive actions within the Ekiti PDP caretaker committee.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Ibadan Youth Vanguard has urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose over actions they describe as treacherous and divisive within the party.

In a statement by Akin Akingbade, General Secretary of the Vanguard, they expressed concern about Fayose’s influence on the Ekiti PDP caretaker committee, which they believe is destabilising the party.

The Vanguard pointed to Fayose’s public support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), while covertly recruiting PDP members to back Oyebanji.

According to the Vanguard, Fayose’s actions have caused disaffection and unrest among loyal PDP members, suggesting he is working with the APC to weaken the PDP from within.

Akingbade refuted recent claims by Omotosho Okeya, who insinuated that Dare Adeleke, Chairman of the Ekiti PDP caretaker committee, had encouraged enmity within the party.

The Vanguard dismissed this as false propaganda, asserting that Adeleke has always maintained loyalty to the PDP, unlike Fayose, who has openly aligned with opposition members.

The Ibadan Youth Vanguard warned that Fayose’s continued presence in the PDP is detrimental to the party’s future in Ekiti. They recalled how Fayose publicly declared that the PDP would not field a candidate for the 2026 Ekiti governorship election, a statement they believe further highlights his disloyalty.

They also accused Fayose of manipulating the media and spreading misinformation, calling his long-standing reputation as a divisive figure a threat to party unity.

“Fayose’s recruitment of PDP members to support his APC ally, BAO, is a clear betrayal,” Akingbade said.

The group expressed their full support for Hon. Dare Adeleke, describing him as a well-educated, long-standing PDP member with an impeccable record.

In contrast, they labelled Fayose as an opportunist who has consistently sought to serve his personal interests at the expense of the party.

The Ibadan Youth Vanguard concluded their statement by urging the PDP National Executive Committee to act swiftly and expel Fayose to prevent further damage to the party in Ekiti ahead of the 2026 elections.

Ekiti PDP is sold to the Oyo branch of the party because of the treacherous inspiring leaders who wanted to overthrow their political boss. The only two-term governor of the party with greater performance can’t be expelled without consequences and effect on the party. It is a tsunami and suicidal for PDP if such a thought is tested.
