The 18-year-old delivered a moment of sheer brilliance, winning the much-hyped battle of prodigies against Lamine Yamal.
The winger’s magical moment came 10 minutes into the second half. Receiving the ball on the right, Estevao drifted past two defenders before firing powerfully into the roof of Joan Garcia’s net.
The strike marked his 10th goal of the season for club and country in what has already become a standout debut campaign at Chelsea.
Barcelona, already trailing and reduced to 10 men, were left with an impossible task. Substitute Liam Delap sealed the result in the 73rd minute, calmly slotting home from close range.
The goal was initially ruled out for offside, but VAR confirmed the finish.
Chelsea’s superiority was evident from the early stages. Enzo Fernandez had the ball in the net inside four minutes, though it was chalked off for a handball by Wesley Fofana.
Barcelona nearly responded moments later when Ferran Torres raced through on goal but skewed his effort wide.
The home side dominated the tempo, with Fernandez denied again—this time for offside—before Pedro Neto fired over.
Their pressure finally paid off in the 27th minute. Following a short-corner routine, chaos in the Barcelona box ended with Jules Kounde turning the ball into his own net.
Barcelona’s evening worsened just before the interval when captain Ronald Araujo received a second yellow for a rash challenge on Marc Cucurella.
Chelsea maintained their intensity in the second half and were rewarded richly through Estevao and Delap, while Barcelona—five-time Champions League winners—offered little resistance.
The Stamford Bridge crowd teased an ineffective Yamal after Estevao scored, and jeered as the teenager was substituted.
Back in the Champions League after a two-year absence, Maresca’s men have now won three of their first five games, giving themselves a strong chance of finishing in the top eight and securing automatic qualification for the last 16.
