Ikorodu High Court orders three foreign DNA tests to confirm the paternity of Mohbad’s son amid family dispute

The Ikorodu High Court in Lagos State has directed that three separate DNA tests be conducted abroad to determine the paternity of Liam, the son of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The ruling was delivered amid ongoing legal proceedings between Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and the singer’s widow, Wunmi.

Mohbad passed away on September 27, 2023, under circumstances that attracted national attention.

Since his death, disputes over his estate and family matters—including the paternity of his son—have continued to draw public interest.

At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, February 3, Joseph Aloba’s counsel, Barrister Oladayo Ogungbe, revealed that the court instructed both parties to recommend three foreign medical facilities capable of conducting tissue-based DNA tests.

Each party will submit their preferred testing centres abroad.

The court will select one facility from each party’s recommendation and appoint a third independent centre, bringing the total number of DNA tests to three.

The court also emphasised that the laboratories must be able to perform tissue-based DNA analysis.

Joseph Aloba has previously stated that the remains of his late son will not be buried until the paternity of Liam is conclusively established through DNA testing.
