Adeleke’s campaign council has demanded an Ikire killing probe after the fatal shooting of Kolade Eluyera in Osun State
The Imole Campaign Council on Saturday called for an independent investigation into the killing of Kolade Eluyera, reportedly the son of the women leader of the Accord Party in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.

The spokesperson for the council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, alleged that the attack occurred late on Friday near Onireke Mosque in Ikire and accused suspected thugs linked to the All Progressives Congress of carrying out the killing.
Confirming the incident, the Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said a lifeless body with gunshot wounds was recovered in Ikire.
“Investigation is on and the Commissioner of Police has deployed more men to the area. We are working with those who brought the corpse to get more information,” Ojelabi said.
Olajengbesi claimed that repeated complaints and intelligence reports concerning alleged intimidation, abduction and attacks against Accord Party members in Irewole had earlier been lodged with security authorities without decisive action.
“What is unfolding in Osun State is becoming dangerously alarming, condemnable, and a direct threat to constitutional democracy, public peace, and political freedom,” Olajengbesi said.
The campaign spokesperson condoled the family of the deceased and called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other security agencies to launch a thorough and independent Ikire killing probe.
Olajengbesi further alleged that rising political tension in the state was linked to what he described as growing public rejection of the APC, while praising the administration of Ademola Adeleke for its “visible performance and people-oriented governance.”
However, the allegations were strongly rejected by Kola Olabisi, co-chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji Governorship Election Campaign Council.
Olabisi described the accusations against the APC as false, inflammatory and politically motivated, insisting that the police should be allowed to conduct a proper investigation into the killing.
“It is uncharitable, wicked and inhuman of the campaign committee wing of the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke to willingly embark on the threatening of the security of the state,” Olabisi said.
He maintained that violence and brigandage had never been associated with the APC and defended the party’s governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, as “a perfect gentleman who cannot hurt a fly.”
