Katsina drug suspects arrest as Army and NDLEA detain six peddlers during raid in Malumfashi, recovering cannabis and controlled substances
Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested six suspected drug peddlers during a coordinated raid in Katsina State on May 9, 2026, in a joint security operation aimed at curbing illicit drug activities in the region.

Katsina drug suspects arrest followed an intelligence-led operation carried out at about 5:30 p.m. by personnel of the 17 Brigade operating from the Forward Operating Base in Malumfashi, according to security sources.
The joint team reportedly stormed Kauyan Dawo community in Malumfashi Local Government Area after receiving credible information on suspected drug-related activities within the area.
During the operation, six individuals were apprehended on allegations of involvement in drug peddling, with security operatives recovering multiple controlled substances from the scene.
Items seized included 82.5 grams of cannabis sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5, and 1.8 grams of D5, underscoring what authorities described as ongoing illicit drug circulation within the community.
Following the arrest, the suspects alongside the recovered substances were handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution in line with existing drug laws.
Security authorities stated that the operation forms part of intensified efforts to combat drug abuse and dismantle criminal networks contributing to insecurity and social vices across Katsina State.
