The state-owned energy company disclosed the figures in its April 2026 operational and financial report released on Saturday.
According to the report, profit after tax climbed to N481bn in April, compared to N276bn in the preceding month, marking a substantial increase of about 74 per cent.
The NNPC Revenue Jumps 79% milestone reflects improved operational performance across key segments of the company’s business, including higher crude oil production and sustained gas output.
NNPC also reported that it remitted a cumulative N3.71tn in statutory payments to the Federal Government between January and April 2026. The figure exceeded the N2.89tn recorded at the end of the first quarter.
In the upstream sector, crude oil and condensate production increased to 1.68 million barrels per day in April from 1.56 million barrels per day in March, indicating a modest recovery in output levels.
Natural gas production remained stable at 7.7 billion standard cubic feet per day during the month under review. Gas sales averaged 4.65 billion standard cubic feet per day, while upstream pipeline availability stood at 79 per cent.
The company also recorded a significant infrastructure achievement with the successful crossing of the OB3 River Niger pipeline segment, a critical component of Nigeria’s gas transportation network.
Work continued on the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline project, which remains one of the country’s most strategic energy infrastructure developments.
Despite the positive results, NNPC acknowledged operational challenges. The company said the planned start-up of the Trans Ramos Pipeline experienced delays due to leak detection concerns and facility integrity issues that required further attention.
Beyond its commercial operations, the NNPC Foundation expanded its corporate social responsibility initiatives during April.
The foundation commissioned three fully rehabilitated hospital wards with a combined capacity of 102 beds at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Lagos, on April 29.
It also provided humanitarian support to victims of flooding in Mokwa, Niger State, while delivering basic financial literacy training to 72,657 members of the National Youth Service Corps during the month.
