Obasa APC dissidents warning follows Lagos primaries as the speaker defends the process and backs Obafemi Hamzat for 2027
Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has warned dissident members of the All Progressives Congress against spreading what he described as false reports about the House of Assembly primaries conducted across Agege on Wednesday.

Obasa spoke on Thursday at the Agege Stadium in Lagos during a gathering of APC stakeholders and supporters who affirmed Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
The speaker defended the conduct of the primaries, insisting that the process complied fully with party guidelines and was conducted openly in the presence of electoral officials, security agencies, party leaders and the media.
According to supervising officers from the Independent National Electoral Commission, former Agege Local Government chairman, Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, won the APC ticket for Agege Constituency I after polling 10,126 votes, while Barrister Azeez Oladapo Ninalowo secured the ticket for Agege Constituency II with 12,455 votes.
Both candidates had earlier emerged as consensus aspirants during a caucus meeting chaired by Obasa.
“We’ve done everything according to the dictates of the party. Dr Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat is our governorship candidate.

Senator Idiat Adebule is our candidate in Lagos West Senatorial District, and Mudashiru Obasa is the candidate for Agege Federal Constituency,” the speaker said.
Obasa praised INEC, security agencies and party members for ensuring what he described as a peaceful and transparent exercise.
He also took aim at party members who failed to participate in the primaries but later criticised the outcome.
“You can’t be absent from all primaries and still claim that you are with us. We have conducted House of Representatives, Senate, House of Assembly, and Governorship primaries, yet some disgruntled party members have consistently stayed away,” he said.
The speaker stressed the importance of loyalty and continuity within the APC political structure in Agege, describing the local chapter as a strong and disciplined organisation.
“Nothing was done by subterfuge; everything was done in the open. INEC, DSS, Police, the media, and party leaders were all present. There’s nothing to fear,” Obasa stated.
He added that anyone dissatisfied with the process should challenge the outcome through legal channels rather than spread misinformation.
