The disclosure was made in a bulletin issued by the Board and signed by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin.
According to JAMB, the payment represents the ₦700 registration fee collected on behalf of CBT centres from candidates during the UTME registration process.
The Board explained that it collects the fee alongside the ePIN registration charge and remits the total amount directly to accredited CBT centres on a weekly basis.
“In line with this arrangement, the Board has remitted a total sum of ₦1,570,671,200 to the CBT centres that participated in the 2026 UTME registration exercise,” the statement said.
JAMB stated that the arrangement has significantly reduced exploitation of candidates through unauthorized charges while strengthening the adoption of a cashless registration system, especially among privately owned CBT centres.
Under the system, candidates who purchase the UTME ePIN are not required to make additional payments at CBT centres and can complete their registration at any accredited centre nationwide.
To ensure transparency and compliance, the Board reaffirmed its “No View, No Pay” policy, which requires verification that registered candidates are visible in JAMB’s system before payments are made to CBT centres.
The policy is designed to prevent registration irregularities and promote accountability during the registration process.
The 2026 UTME registration closed on February 28, while the examination will take place nationwide from April 16 to April 25, 2026.
