NNPCL says improved collaboration on TNP oil production has boosted output and revenue, urging communities to sustain efforts toward 2.5m bpd target

The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited has reported that improved collaboration between host communities along the Trans Niger Pipeline and Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited has delivered a significant boost to TNP oil production, contributing to higher national revenue.

Speaking at the January stakeholders meeting organised by PINL in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the Head of Field Operations for the Eastern Corridor Project Monitoring Office of NNPCL, Akponime Omojevwhe, attributed the rising output to sustained community cooperation and effective pipeline security.

Omojevwhe said the support of host communities has also played a vital role in the strong performance recorded in safeguarding the Trans Niger Pipeline, describing the progress as encouraging and impactful.

He urged stakeholders to sustain the momentum in order to meet the company’s ambitious projection of 2.5 million barrels per day by 2026, stressing that output levels must surpass those of the previous year.

According to him, the message from NNPCL leadership was to appreciate the communities for their collaboration with PINL, which has translated into a clear increase in TNP oil production and improved revenue generation for the country.

Earlier, the General Manager for Community and Stakeholders Relations at PINL, Dr Akpos Mezeh, said the company had received renewed assurances from host communities to maintain zero infractions along the pipeline corridor.

Mezeh reaffirmed PINL’s determination to support the Federal Government’s production target of 2.5 million barrels per day, commending surveillance personnel for their dedication and vigilance.

He also disclosed that the company plans to join ongoing mediation efforts between the Federal Government and the Ogoni people to enable a smooth resumption of oil exploration in the area, noting that conflict resolution remains crucial to sustaining TNP oil production.

Representing the Office of the National Security Adviser, Mr Young-Harry Amachree assured participants that concerns raised by community representatives would be adequately addressed to strengthen trust and cooperation.

Traditional rulers at the meeting praised PINL’s inclusive approach. The King of Eleme Kingdom, HRM Dr Philip Obele, commended the company for consistently engaging stakeholders and supporting communities, particularly during festive periods.

Similarly, the King of Elele-Alimini Community in Emohua Local Government Area, Eze Peter Wagbara, said PINL’s operations reflected a positive departure from practices that often fuel division among host communities, urging the company to expand its women empowerment and scholarship programmes.

Youth leaders also pledged continued support, with the spokesperson of the Niger Delta Ethnic Youth Leaders, Dr Legborsi Yamaabana, noting that PINL’s empowerment and employment initiatives have had a tangible impact on young people across the region.
