The Oscars ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2026, with Conan O’Brien returning as host. Mosaku’s nomination places her among a highly competitive field, including Elle Fanning and Amy Madigan.

Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, has emerged as one of the early frontrunners for major awards, with African-American actors Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo, both of African descent, also nominated for their performances. Jordan contends for Best Actor, while Lindo is up for Best Supporting Actor.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another and Coogler’s Sinners dominate major categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Writing awards, reflecting strong critical acclaim.

The Best Picture category features ten films: Bugonia, F1: The Movie, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners, and Train Dreams.

Notable nominations for Mosaku and her co-stars underscore the global influence of actors of African descent in contemporary cinema, signalling broader recognition of diverse talent.

In addition to acting nominations, Sinners has secured nods in multiple technical categories, including Editing, Cinematography, Original Screenplay, Production Design, Sound, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Original Song.

The Academy Awards will celebrate achievements across 23 categories, including acting, directing, technical crafts, and feature-length and short-form films in both live-action and animated formats.
